The vibe
James Wan's ventriloquist-dummy gothic is pure haunted-carnival logic: a dead puppeteer, a town that whispers her rhyme, and a mortuary of dolls. Silly on paper, but Wan's staging of silence-before-the-scream became a signature he'd perfect in later films.
