How it scared people
The vibe
Hugh Grant weaponises forty years of charm as a man who traps two missionaries in a lecture, using Monopoly knock-offs and three versions of the same pop song to argue that all religion is iteration. Almost the entire film is talking, and the scariest object in it is a blueberry-pie-scented candle. Very slow, very smug, mostly earned.
