How it scared people
The vibe
Fruit Chan's Dumplings opens the anthology and immediately outclasses it: a lacquered, immaculate film about a fading actress and a chef whose rejuvenating recipe you'll work out fast — the sound design does the damage. Park Chan-wook contributes a cruel stage play, Miike a near-silent dream. Three countries, three registers, one very long aftertaste.
