How it scared people
The vibe
Patrick Stewart plays the neo-Nazi club owner as a tired middle manager giving quiet instructions, which is far worse than shouting. Saulnier stages violence the way it actually happens — sudden, clumsy, over before anyone is ready — and the arm-in-the-doorway moment ruined a lot of people. One of Anton Yelchin's last performances, and among his best.
