The vibe
Eskil Vogt co-wrote Thelma, and here he hands the same powers to children on a Norwegian housing estate in the flat light of a Nordic summer. What makes it unbearable isn't the telekinesis, it's the accuracy about kids: how casually cruelty gets tested, how fast it escalates. One early scene involving a cat is why people warn each other about this film.
