Every zombie who has ever groaned for brains is quoting this movie — Romero's never did. O'Bannon runs it as a punk comedy with a Cramps-and-45-Grave soundtrack, then hides a genuinely nasty idea underneath: these dead can talk, and they can explain exactly what being dead feels like. Tarman remains an all-time creature design.
