How it scared people
The vibe
Shot for direct-to-video, this became the first such film ever invited to Cannes' Directors' Fortnight, which is the correct amount of absurd. A yakuza loses the corpse of the brother he was sent to kill and wanders into a Lynchian nowhere of lactating innkeepers and a man with a cow's head. Very funny until it isn't; Miike's last reel is unrepeatable.
