How it scared people
The vibe
Shobana won a National Award for playing a woman who may be channelling a murdered Tanjore dancer sealed behind a locked door, and the switch she performs between two registers is why four other Indian film industries remade this. Be warned: it's also a broad comedy and a musical, and Mohanlal's psychiatrist treats possession as a clinical problem.
