How it scared people
The vibe
Kargl bolted a 16mm camera to Erwin Leder's body and let it orbit him for the entire runtime, so a home invasion plays out from inside the killer's skull with his flat, unstoppable narration for company. Loosely based on the Werner Kniesek murders, banned across Europe, and it bankrupted its director. Gaspar Noe has been rebuilding it ever since.
