How it scared people

The vibe

Warner Bros. handed their first color 3D feature to André De Toth, who was blind in one eye and could not perceive the effect at all — which explains the paddleball barker who stops the film dead to bounce a ball at your face. Price is why it survives: courtly, wounded, delighted with himself.
