The vibe
Joseon-era court intrigue plus a plague-ridden beast built on the haetae of Korean myth — a scaled, pus-slick lion-bear that looks tremendous in long shot and occasionally rubbery in close-up. The politics are the sharper half: a king's ministers discover that inventing a monster is an excellent way to govern. Choi Woo-shik, pre-Parasite, is in it.
