The vibe
Stoker's widow sued and won: the court ordered every print burned. Enough survived to give us Max Schreck's Orlok, who is not a seducer but an infestation — bald, taloned, arriving with the rats and the plague. Murnau shot real locations and then let sunrise do the killing, which is the rule every vampire film since has either obeyed or made a point of breaking.
