How it scared people
The vibe
A dying circus elephant gets a full funeral procession, its coffin tipped into a Mexican ravine and torn open by scavengers who genuinely lived on those rubbish tips. From there Jodorowsky moves to a son serving as his armless mother's arms — two bodies, one pair of hands — and the film never once blinks.
